What are your most recent product innovations?

The Compo Tower which is the manure treatment solution.

Compo Tower is a vertically, enclosed high quality fermentation system which evaporates the moisture in manure and slurry through a high-temperature fermentation process. The Compo Tower process transfers organic waste into a high-quality compost which is applicable as high-value fertilizer for different plants and crops.

The aerobic fermentation method results in a final product which is germ-free and allows an easy control of exhaust air and odour.

What are the major trends and developments affecting your category and your customers, and how are you responding?

The poultry industry in India has undergone a major shift in structure and operation during the last two decades. Customers now require a 24X7 reliable partner for their equipment.  This means that the equipment and spares should be available in the shortest possible time. At Big Dutchman India we have realized this and have recently reorganized our Sales and after sales teams so that they are able to respond to the customer in the shortest possible time. Our Hyderabad Warehouse has recently been shifted into a modern Warehouse complex and we are in process of stocking necessary spares for quick turnaround in service.

How does business in 2020 compared to previous years? What’s your strategy for succeeding in the current climate?

We are compliant with the guidelines issued by the Government of India on covid-19. As per the guidelines we operate with our staff in either Work From Home (WFH) basis or Work from Office (WFO). We record the temperature of our WFO Staff every morning, ensure they wear masks, insist on social distancing inside the office premise and use the Aarogya Setu App.

With the above our Business continues to function and our support for customers continue; despite restrictions on travelling we are still able to provide our customers with the needed support, via online meetings and also online trainings. It has not been difficult for us to institute online meetings or trainings as Big Dutchman has always been in the forefront of technology and therefore the infrastructure required for online meetings and trainings has always been available.

We will continue to support our customers as we play a very important part in the crucial supply chain of food production.

Can you tell us about any of recent customer contracts and how you helped the customer meet their challenges?

Service to our customers is challenging in the current situation. We have been supporting the customer remotely and travel wherever possible by following the guidelines and comply with the Standard Operating Procedures

What’s the latest news from your company?

Recently, we have successfully installed the CompoTower (Manure treatment solution) in Vietnam and are currently promoting it in India as well.

Compo Tower meets the need of many bigger animal protein producers to have a better way of handling manure on their farms. The composting process inside the compact tower mixes air with the manure for aerobic fermentation, which generates a high temperature to evaporate moisture and destroy germs, producing a valuable crop fertiliser. The stand-alone Compo Tower has minimum space requirements, thus giving the user great flexibility in farm layout design

Poultry is one of the most important and fastest-growing sectors of agriculture sectors today in India. The poultry industry in India has endured an exemplary transformation in structure and operation during the last two decades and modified into a mega-industry.

The recent Covid-19 lockdown has impacted the domestic poultry industry severely, being the worst quarter in recent time. India’s poultry industry plummeted after prices slumped earlier this year on speculation fanned by social media that chickens could spread the coronavirus. Sales of poultry meat went down with Chicken prices at the farm dropping to very low prices which forced some farmers to cull large number of birds and thereby causing huge losses.

Currently, the consumer fear about chicken with Covid-19 is much lower. With the clarification issued by Government, media and poultry professionals that eating chicken was safe the Indian poultry industry is now in the recovery mode

Prices are currently good due to shortage in supplies and increase in demand.

The poultry sector is predicted to roll back by the end of this year, although capital for new investments may remain limited for some time.
